The heat generated due to neutralization is 1.158 KJ

The Heat or Enthalpy of neutralization is the amount of heat generated during the complete reaction of 1 mole of a strong acid with 1 mole of strong base.

When 1 mole of a strong acid is completely react with 1 mole of a strong base and forms salt and water, then the energy released is called Heat of neutralization.

Generally, its value is 57.9 KJ/mole

Here,

Amount of H₂SO₄ (strong acid) = 200 ml of 0.1 M

∴ Moles of H₂SO₄ = \frac{200}{1000} × 0.1 mole [As M = n/V (in L), So, n = M × V]

                              = 0.02 mole

Amount of NaOH (strong base) = 100 ml of 0.2 M

                      ∴ Moles of NaOH = 0.02 mole

∴ Amount of heat generated will be = (57.9 × 0.02) KJ/mole

                                                            = 1.158 KJ/mole
