The correct example of each is given below.

Explanation:

  • i (A deliquescent compound) - B ( Iron(III) Chloride)
  • ii ( Compound soluble in hot water but insoluble in cold water )- D ( Lead Chloride)
  • iii ( compound whose aqueous solution is neutral )- E ( Sodium chloride)
  • Iron chloride or ferric chloride is an example of a deliquescent compound. The deliquescent compounds are those that absorb moisture and have high chemical affinity towards water when exposed to the environment thereby forming a liquid.
  • Lead chloride is insoluble in cold water. According to hard-soft acid-base theory,  lead ion is a borderline acid. Water on the other hand is a hard solvent. Hard-hard and soft-soft interactions are much more favorable as compared to mixed interactions. Hot water on the other hand  weakens the lead ion- anion bonds making lead chloride soluble in hot water.
  • Sodium chloride , NaCl when dissolved in water breaks up to give hydroxide and hydrogen ions which are equal in number. This makes the aqueous solution of NaCl neutral.
