Butterflies are insects with colourful wings. They are found almost all over the world. Some
butterflies live their whole life in one place.Others migrate long distances to escape cold
winters.)
A butterfly begins its life as an egg which hatches into a caterpillar. The caterpillar eats a lot
of leaves. As the caterpillar grows, it sheds its skin. Then it covers itself in a chrysalis and
remains like this for some time. In the chrysalis, the caterpillar changes. It grows six legs, an
antenna, proboscis and wings then it breaks out of the chrysalis as butterfly.
Each butterfly has 4 wings. The wings of butterflies are of various colours and have diverse
patterns. No two butterflies have the same wing pattern. Butterflies fly from flower to flower ir
search of food(A butterfly unrolls its proboscis to suck the sugary juice made by flowers) The
juice is called nectar.
