Use factor theorem to determine whether g(x) = X+1 is a factor of p(x) = 2x² + x² - 2x -1 and find the value of p(x) at X= 2​

= 2+ 1 -2-1

= 3-3 = 0

by using factor theorem ( wrong sum)

Answer 2

g(x)= x+1

x =-1

p(x)= 2x2 + x2 - 2x -1

= 2(-1)2 +(-1)2 - 2(-1) -1

= 2 +1+2-1

=4

hence value of x=4 not 2
