Given:

Frequency of radio station broadcasts = 900 kHz

To find:

Wavelength of radio station broadcasts

Solution:

Formula used to calculate wavelength in terms of frequency is as follows,

           \nu = \frac{c}{\lambda}

or,       \lambda = \frac{c}{\nu}

here, ν = frequency

         c = speed of light

         λ = wavelength

Frequency is given 900 kHz. Converting it into Hz, we get,

 1 kHz = 1000 Hz

 900 kHz = 9 × 10⁵ Hz

so, frequency in Hz is 9 × 10⁵ Hz or 9 × 10⁵ s⁻¹.

Value of c is 3 × 10⁸ ms⁻¹.

By substituting all the values we get,

       \lambda = \frac{3 \times 10^8 ms^-^1}{9 \times 10^5 s^-^1}

       \lambda = \frac{1 \times 10^3}{3} m

       λ = 333.33 m

Therefore, wavelength of electromagnetic radiation of radio station broadcast is 333.33 m.
