QUESTION 1

A girl walks a distance of 2 km in 40minute. Find her speed.

SOLUTION

TO FIND:-

  • SPEED OF GIRL

GIVEN

  • DISTANCE = 2km

=> 2 × 1000

=> 2000m

  • Time = 40 minutes

=> 40 × 60

=> 2400 sec

FORMULA

SPEED = \frac{DISTANCE}{TIME}

ACCORDING TO QUESTION

Speed =\frac{DISTANCE}{TIME}

Speed =\frac{2000m}{2400sec}

Speed =\frac{5m}{6sec}

Speed = 0.83m/s

THEREFORE

SPEED OF GIRL = 0.83m/s

QUESTION 2

If the girl in Q 21 walk back and covers the same distance in 50 minute. What is the average speed of the girl?

SOLUTION

TO FIND

  • AVERAGE SPEED OF THE GIRL

GIVEN

  • DISTANCE = 2000m
  • TIME = 50m

=> 50 × 60

=> 3000

FORMULA

Average\:Speed=\frac{Total\:Distance\:Travelled}{Total\:Time\:Taken}

NOW

TOTAL DISTANCE TRAVELLED = 2000 + 2000

=> 4000m

TOTAL TIME TAKEN = 2400 + 3000

=> 5400sec

ACCORDING TO QUESTION

Average\:Speed=\frac{Total\:Distance\:Travelled}{Total\:Time\:Taken}

 Average\:speed=\frac{4000m}{5400sec}

 Average\:speed=\frac{20m}{27sec}

 Average\:speed=0.74m/sec

THEREFORE

AVERAGE SPEED OF GIRL = 0.74m/s
