these elements in the increasing order of their electronegativity. Give
reason.
Elements

ascending order of increasing electronegativity:-

K < Na < Al < S

  • moving from left to right in a periodic table, electronegativity increases. Since, S lies in the extreme right, it is the most electronegative
  • Aluminium comes in middle so it is lesser electronegative than S
  • Na is in extreme left so, it is even less electronegative than Al.
  • moving from top to bottom in a periodic table electronegativity decreases. K lies below Sodium, so it is the least electronegative element.
