Answer:

% of women in the town= 100-(40+25)

                                        = 100-65 = 35%

to find total number of people in town

17500 = x × 35/100

=(17500×100)/35

=50,000

(a)no of men = 50,000×40/100

                      = 20,000

(b) children   = 50,000× 25/100

                      = 12500

Percentage of men = 40%

Percrntage of children = 25 %

Total percentage of men and children = 40% + 25% = 65%

therefore, Percentage of women = 100% - 65 % = 35 % ( let total population to be 100%)

It means 35% of the Total number of population were women.

35% of total population = 17500

35/100 of total popu. = 17500

Total population = 17500 × 100/ 35

= 50,000

Now the total population is 50,000

.

. . No. of men = 40/100 × 50000

= 20,000 Ans.

No.of children= 25 / 100 × 50000

= 12,500 Ans.
