Answer:

lets assume the boy get lesser marks is X

so

the boy gets higher marks = X + 9

sum of their marks = X + (X + 9) = 2X + 9

given that

X + 9 is 56% of sum( i. e. 2X + 9)

so

X + 9 = (2X + 9)(56/100)

=> 100X + 900 = 112 X + 504

=> 12X = 396

=> X = 396/12= 33

so the boy who gets lesser marks = X = 33

and the boy who gets higher marks= X+9= 42
