let the side of first square be a

Area of first square=a^2

Diagonal of 2nd square=a

√2(side)=a

side=a/√2

Area of 2nd square=(a/√2)^2

=a^2/2

Ratio=a^2:a^2/2

=1:1/2

=2:1
