It was a dull autumn day and Jill was crying behind the gym. She was crying because
they had been bullying her. It was a co-educational school, a school for both boys
and girls(Some of the senior boys and girls gakged up and did what they liked best
and that was bullying the others) All sorts of horrid things went on because the
management was not strict. If these things had happened in my school the matter
would have come to light and the bullies would have been suspended or expelled
depending on the severity of the situation. Instead, the head of this school
considered these big bullies to be interesting psychological cases and he would
send for them and talk to them for hours and this resulted in them becoming his
favourite and they took undue advantage of this and became worse day by day.
That was why Jill was crying on that dull autumn day on the damp little path which
runs between the back of the gym and the shrubbery. Trevor passing by stopped to
enquire why Jill was crying. He wasn't the bad sort but his question irritated Jil
because he was telling her to ignore the bullies. Jill, however, was quite unwilling t
hear him out so she yelled "Td like to see what you would do if you were in my place
Trevor did not let her out burst worry him. He continued to explain to her that it w
no use crying because no one would support her cause. He sensibly offered he
peppermint and he had one as well. Soon Jill began to see things clearly. They sho
hands and became friends in unfavourable weather
