The depth of the well is 20 meters.

Explanation:

Given : A rectangular field is 156 m long and 81 m broad.

Area of rectangular field  = length x breadth

= 156 x 81 = 12636 square meters

A well of length 13 m and breadth 12 m is  dug inside the field

Area of base of well =  length x breadth

= 13 x  12

= 156 square meters

Area of remaining part of the field = Area of rectangular field- Area of base of well

=  12636 square meters-  156 square meters

= 12480 square meters

Since , the mud taken out is spread evenly over the remaining part of the field  to a thickness of 25 cm.

Also,  25 cm = 0.25 m (∵ 1m =100 cm)

So volume of mud in remaining part = (Area of remaining part of the field) x thickness

= 12480 x 0.25 =3120 cubic meters

Let h be the depth of well , Volume of well = (Area of base of well) x( depth)

=156h   cubic meters

According to the question

Volume of well =Volume of mud in remaining part

156h = 3120

h=\dfrac{3120}{156}=20

Hence, the depth of the well is 20 meters.
