TOPIC :- IONIC EQUILIBRIUM

CONCEPT :- To find pH of a solution, we need H+ ion concentration in molarity.

FORMULA

  • Molarity =  \frac{no \: of \: moles \: of \: hydrogen \: ion}{volume \: of \: solution}

  • pH =  -  log(H+ )

CALCULATIONS

Given,

no. of moles of solute = 5 mole

Volume of solution = 50 ml = 5 × 10^-2 l

Hence, molarity =

 \frac{5}{5 \times  {10}^{ - 2} }  =  {10}^{2}

Hence, pH = - log(H+)

= - log (10^2)

= - 2 Ans.
