Answer :

  • The difference of first and third number is 48

Given :

  • Given three numbers , First is twice the second and is half of the third
  • The average of three numbers is 56

To find :

  • Difference of first and third number

Solution :

  • Let the second number be x

Given that, First number is twice the second number so,

  • First number be 2x

And also Given that, First number is half of third number so,

  • Third number be 4x

Average of three numbers is 56.

According to question

➾ x + 2x + 4x / 3 = 56

➾ 7x/3 = 56

➾ 7x = 56 × 3

➾ 7x = 168

➾ x = 168/7

➾ x = 24

Now Finding the difference of First and third number :

➾ 2x - 4x

➾ 2x

➾ 2(24)

➾ 48

Hence , The difference of first and third number is 48

Verification :

➾ x + 2x + 4x / 3 = 56

➾ 24 + 2(24) + 4(24) / 3 = 56

➾ 24 + 48 + 96 / 3 = 56

➾ 168/3 = 56

➾ 56 = 56

Hence , Verified
