22 The taxi fare in a city is as follows:
For the first kilometer, the fare is 6 and for the subsequent distance it is 73
per km. Taking the distance covered as x km and total fare as y, write the
linear equation for the information and draw its graph.

Given : Total distance travelled is x and fare taken is y.

On understanding language we find that for 1 km only Rs 6 are takem but for remaining journery Rs 73 per km.

Remaining Journey : (x - 1) km

Amount charged for it : 73(x - 1)

Equation : y = 73(x - 1) + 6

y = 73x - 73 + 6

y = 73x - 67

73x - y = 67

On taking x = 0, 1 and y = 0 we get,
