HEAT = I²RT

I×IRT

SINCE, V = IR

HEAT = IVT

220 = V/R × VT

220 = V²T/R

220×8/1 = V²

v = \sqrt{220 \times 8}

V = 42

Heat produced = 220J (Given)

Time = 8 sec (Given)

Heat = I² RT joules

According to ohm's law V=IR

So I = V/R

Substituting I we get

V²/ R² × RT joules

=  V²T/R joules

= 220 = V² × 1 sec/ 8 ohms

= 220 × 8 = v²

= ~ 44

Thus, the potential difference across the resistor is 44
