23. (a) Calculate the number of molecules of sulphur (S) present in 16 g of solid sulphur ( atomic

(b) calculate the number of moles in 64 g of oxygen gas. ( atomic mass o=16u).​

A. Calculate the number of molecules of sulphur (S8) present in 16 g of solid sulphur. ∴ 16 g of sulphur = 16 256 1 16 = moles = 0.125 moles 1 mole of S8 molecules = 6.023 × 1023 number of molecules ∴ 1 16 mole of S8 = 6.023 × 1023 number of molecules × 1 16 .

B.  Molar mass of oxygen is 16 grams, it means that 1 mole oxygen weighs 16 grams. therefore 64 gram oxygen = 64/16 = 4 mole oxygen. 1 mole of any element contains 6.022 * 10^23 atoms in it.
