23. Explain regular and irregular reflection using a suitable ray diagram.
Answers
Answer:
REGULAR REFLECTION - It is the reflection from a regular or plane surface. The rays are parallel after the reflection.
IRREGULAR REFLECTION - It is the reflection from a plane surface . The rays are not parallel after reflection.

Reflection is the bouncing back of light when light falls on a body such as silver, mirror etc.
There are two laws of reflection :
- The angle of incidence will be always equal to the angle of reflection.
- All the rays like the incident ray, reflected Ray and the normal will always lie on the same plane.
There are two types of reflection :
- Regular reflection
- Irregular reflection
Regular reflection: In regular reflection the light rays are reflected uniformly when falls on a polished or regular surface area. Such as light reflected from mirror is considered to be regular reflection.
Irregular reflection: In irregular reflection the light rays get dispersed when falls on a rough surface and the light rays get reflected non-uniformly. Such as light reflected from cement surface is considered to be irregular reflection.
