Given length l = 12 m

breadth b = 9 m

and height h = 8 m

Longest rod that can be placed in a room is nothing but its diagonal.

Length of diagonal of a cuboid = √(l2 + b2 + h2)

Length of longest rod = √(122 + 92 + 82) m

= √(144 + 81 + 64) m

= √289 m

= 17 m

Thus the length of the longest rod is 17 m

Hope this will help you ☺

length of largest rod that can be placed in a room is its room diagonal

hence room is in the shape of cubiod we will find is diagonal

that is

diagonal or cuboid = longest rod in room

√a²+b²+c² =longest rod in room

(a=12 b=9 c=8)

=√12²+9²+8²

=√144+81+64

=√289

=17 (the value of √289 is 17)

answer:- the longest rod that we can placed in the room is 17m long

lusifer88: it is more breif then that answer
