Molar mass of sodium = 23g

Molar mass of NaCl= 23 + 35.5 = 58.5g

Equivalent weight = \frac{Molar\:\:\: mass\:\:\: of \:\:\:element}{no.\:\:\:elctrons\:\:\:lost}

No. of electrons lost = Na  → Na⁺ + e⁻

So, one electron is lost

equivalent weight of Na = \frac{23}{1} = 23 g
