The gases in air can separated from one another through a process known as the fractional distillation of air. This is a process that converts air into a liquid form and then allows it to be portioned out into layers and separated from one another. Because pure oxygen and nitrogen have a no. of applications, this is a useful technique.
hope that helps

Answer:

Air is considered a mixture and not a compound because:

(i) the constituent gases in air are not present in fixed ratio.

(ii)properties of air are average of its constituent gases.

(iv) the constituent gases can be separated by physical methods.
