GIVEN :

The father's age is six times his son's age.

• Four years hence, the age of the father will be four times his son's age.

TO FIND :

• The present ages of the son and the father are = ?

SOLUTION :

Let the age of father = x

• And the age of son = y

• According to the first condition –

=> x = 6y ________eq.(1)

• According to the second condition –

=> (x + 4) = 4(y + 4)

=> x + 4 = 4y + 16

=> x = 4y + 12

• Using eq.(1) –

=> 6y = 4y + 12

=> 2y = 12

=> y = 12/2

=> y = 6 year

• Again Using eq.(1) –

=> x = 6(6)

=> x = 36 year

Hence, The age of father is 36 year & The age of son is 6 year.

✔ Given :-

  • The father's age is six times his son's age.

  • After 4 years, the age of the father will be four times his son's age.

✔ To find :-

  • The present ages of the son and the father.

✔ Solution :-

Let the age of father be "x"

Let the age of son be "y"

It is given that,

The father's age is six times his son's age.

So, We Can Say

x = 6y. \leftarrow\rm(eq \: 1.)

It is Given that,

Four years hence, the age of the father will be four times his son's age.

So, We Can say

(x+4) = 4(y+4).

Now Put x = 6y. From \</strong><strong>l</strong><strong>a</strong><strong>r</strong><strong>g</strong><strong>e</strong><strong>\</strong><strong>rm(eq \: 1.)

6y+4 = 4y+16.

6y-4y = 16-4

2y = 12.

y = 6.

If "y" = 6, then

"x" = 6y = 6 × 6 = 36.

So,

✍ Age Of Father = X = 36.

✍ Age Of Son = Y = 6.
