Because sex chromosome of mother is X

and the sex chromosomes of father can be X or Y

An X chromosome combines with the mother's X chromosome to make a baby girl (XX) and a Y chromosome will combine with the mother's to make a boy (XY)

Thus sex of child is indirectly depends on male sex chromosome......

if the zygote contains XX chromosomes than it will be female foetus ...if there will be XY chromosome than it will be male foetus...

male parent contain both x and y chromosomes and female contain only x chromosomes and at the. tym of fusion if the sperm containing x chromosome fertilize the egg than it will turn into female baby ....if the sperm contains y chromosomes fertilizes the egg than it will results in male foetus...

the sex of the baby depends upon the male chromosomes contained by the sperm i.e depends upon male ...
