Step-by-step explanation:

Ans 2. Let the age of grandfather be = x

The age of granddaughter be = y

According to the question

x = 10y

x = 54 + y

By elimination method

-9y = - 54

y = 6years

hence x= 60years

nihalshankar: can you tell the first one...

Step-by-step explanation:

unit digit =y

Tens digit=x

No=10x+y

A.T.Q

x+y=18.........eq(I)

After reversing the no becomes=10y+x

therefore,

(10y+x)-(10x+y)=126

10y+x-10x-y=126

9y-9x=126

9(y-x)=126

y-x=126/9

y-x=14 or

-y+x=-14........eq(ii)

now,

x-y=18....i

x-y=-14....ii (after adding eq ii from eq i we get)

2x=4

therefore x=2

now placing the value of x in eq i

i.e x+y=18

2+y =18

y=9

therefore no =10x+y

=10×2+9

=29 (answer)
