1. What would be expected to happen if Gibberellic acid is applied to sugarcane?

  • Gibberellic acids show the bolting phenomenon. Bolting is the sudden elongation in the length of the stem during the flowering or reproductive growth of plants. It promotes germination in cereals and starchy seeds. It inhibits the formation of the abscission layer. It promotes maleness in plants. So,when Gibberellic acid is applied to rice seedlings, it will cause a sudden elongation in the rice plant. it will promote the germination of rice as it is a cereal. It will inhibit the formation of the abscission layer and it will promote maleness in the plants.
  • In short it promotes internodal elongation

2 ) What would be expected to happen if Ethephon is applied to Cucumber plants?

  • Ethephon will increase the yeild of the cucumber by promoting the number of female flowers in cucumbers.

3 ) What would be expected to happen if you forget to add cytokinin to culture medium?

  • The callus develops shoot in the presence of the cytokinin because it is a plant hormone that plays an important role in the cell division mechanism. It helps in organ differentiation (shoot, stems, and leaves). Thus, if we forget to add cytokinin to the culture medium, then the callus will not develop shoot buds.
