As we know that

(+) + (-) = - subtract

(-) + (-) = add but sign remains -

$-231+79+51 \\ =-231+130\\ \\ = -101$

$-399+159+81\\ \\ = -399+240\\ \\ = -159$

Thus – 231 + 79 + 51 > –399 + 159 + 81,

-101 > -159

Because we know that with - sign if magnitude of number increases actually it decreases.
