let the two numbers be A and B such that A>B,

now according to the question, we get

A²+B²=208 ................eq(1),

A²=18B .........eq(2),

put this value of A² in eq(1), we get

18B+B²=208,

B²+18B-208=0,

B²+(26-8)B-208=0,

B²+26B-8B-208=0,

B(B+26)-8(B+26)=0,

(B+26)(B-8)=0,

if
B+26=0,

B=-26 (not possible),

when

B-8=0

B=8,

put this value of B in eq(2), we have

A²=18×8,

A²=144,

A=√144,

then

A=12
