23x – 29y = 68, let this be equation 1
29x – 23y = 140, let this be equation 2
Add the 2 equations,
52x – 52y = 208
52(x–y)=208
x–y=208/52
x–y=4, let this be equation 3
Now subtract equation 1 from equation 2, you get
6x + 6y = 72
6(x+y)=72
x+y = 72/6
x + y =12, let this be equation 4
Now finally add equation 3 and equation 4
x+y+x–y=12+4
2x= 16
x = 16/2
x=8
Now from equation 4,
x+ y = 12
So if x is 8 then y is 4
Thus, x = 8 & y = 4
