24 A wire of length 86 cm is bent in the form of a rectangle such that its length is 7 cm more
than its breadth. Find the length and the breadth of the rectangle so formed.​

Solution,

Total length of the wire = 86 cm = Perimeter of rectangle

Shape to which it is bent = Rectangle

Given,

Breadth = x

Length = 7 + x

Perimeter = 2 (l + b)

86 cm = 2 (7 + x + x)

86 cm = 2 (7 + 2x)

86 cm = 14 + 2x

86 - 14 = 2x

72 = 2x

Therefore

x = 72/2

x = 36 cm

Breadth = x = 36 cm

Length = 7 + x = 36 + 7 = 43 cm

Therefore,

Breadth = 36 cm

Length = 43 cm
