Given : line segment AB = 6.3 cm

To Find : divide it internally in the ratio 2: 5

Solution:

To divide a line segment AB  in the ratio 2:5,

Step1 : Draw a line segment AB = 6.3 cm

Step 2 :  Draw a line segment AX such that ∠BAX is an acute angle

Step 3:  Take 7 point on AX of Equal length one by one ( consecutively)

Step 4 :  Join 7th Point with B as a straight line

Step 5 : Draw a line parallel to line drawn in step 4 such that it passes through 2nd point of step 3 and intersect AB at M

M divides AB in to  2 : 5 Ratio  internally

SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

  • Draw a line segment AB = 6.3 cm

  • Divide it internally in the ratio 2 : 5

EVALUATION

Here the given line segment is AB = 6.3 cm

We have to divide it internally in the ratio 2 : 5

Let first part = 2x cm and second part = 5x cm

So by the given condition

 \sf{2x + 5x = 6.3}

 \implies \sf{7x = 6.3}

 \implies \sf{x = 0.9}

Hence first part = ( 2 × 0.9 ) = 1.8 cm

Second Part = ( 5 × 0.9 ) = 4.5 cm
