Explanation:

we know that C + O2 ----> CO2

now since 1 mole of carbon is 12g and 1 mole of oxygen gas is 32g

by law of conservation of mass

mass of C + mass of O2 = mass of CO2

12g + 32g = 44g

since we know 88g of CO2 is produced and 24 grams of carbon is used

24g + xg of O2 used = 88g

from here we get x as 64g

which is the same as 2 moles of O2 gas
