Carbon disulphide is a colourless liquid.  Iron sulphide is ionic compound while carbon disulphide is a non-polar molecule.

Iron sulphide is not soluble in carbon disulphide and hence the carbon disulphide remains colourless.

The compound formed by heating a mixture of iron filing & sulphur is iron sulphide. It is an exothermic reaction.
