Let the parts be x & y.
According to question
x+y = 24 or x = 24-y ........(i)
7x+5y = 146.......(ii)
Put the value of x on equation (ii)
7(24-y) + 5y = 146
168 - 7y + 5y = 146
5y -7y = 146 - 168
-2y = -22
y = 11
put this value of y on equation (i)
x = 24-y
x = 24-11
x = 13

hey dude....
here is ur answer...!!!!!
Let x = 1 part which makes up 24
Then
(24-x) = 2nd part which makes up 24
:
Write an equation for the statement:
" 7 times the first part added to 5 times the second part makes 146."
= 7x + 5(24-x) = 146
:
= 7x + 120 - 5x = 146
:
= 7x - 5x = 146 - 120
:
2x = 26
x = 26/2
x = 13, one part of 24
then
24 - 13 = 11;
the other part of 24
:
Check solution in the statement:
"7 times the first part added to 5 times the second part makes 146."
7(13) + 5(11) = 146...
thanks.....!
