Let age of elder brother be x.

So, age of Johny = 2x/3

Difference in their ages = 4

x - 2x/3 = 4

3x - 2x

----------- = 4 [ by cross multiplication]

3

x/3 = 4

x = 4×3 = 12

So, age of elder brother = 12 yrs

Age of Johny = 2/3 × 12 = 8 yrs

Hope it helps you !

Step-by-step explanation:

Jerry's age be=x

Johny's age be =2/3 x

x- 2/3x=4

(3x-2x)/3 =4

x/3=4x

x=4×3

x=12

: 2/3x= 12×2/3

= 8

So, Jerry's age is 12

Johny's age is 8
