16 Litre of mixture is taken out

Step-by-step explanation:

24 litre of alcohol is mixed with 72 litre of water

=> Total =  24 + 72 =  96 litre

x litre of mixture is taken out

=> Water taken out = (72/96) * x  = 3x/4 litre

   Alcohol taken out  = (24/96)*x = x/4   litre

Alcohol added = 16 litre

Water added = 24 litre

Now alcohol = 24 - x/4  + 16  = 40  - x/4  =  (160 - x)/4

Total Solution = ( 96 - x  + 16 + 24) = 136 - x

The final mixture contains 30% alcohol

=> 30  = 100 * ((160 - x)/4) / (136 - x)

=> 12(136 - x) = 10(160 - x)

=> 6(136 - x) = 5(160 -x)

=> 816 - 6x = 800 - 5x

=> x = 16
