24 litres of oil are bought at 70 a litre and
6 litres of ethanol at 16 a litre, and they are
mixed together. 20 litres sold at 60 a litre.
At what price per litre must the remaining be
sold to gain 20% on the whole outlay?

okay

so the total

buying price of 24liters oil- 24×70= 1680

and total price of ethanol is- 6×16= 96

then total price is- (1680+96)= 1776

now 20liter of mix is sold at 60 per liter then

total selling price is- 20×60= 1200

now

We have to gain 20% of gain of whole outlay- then

our total selling price must be

1776+{1767×(20/100)}

= 1776+ 355.20

= 2131.20

now

we got only 1200 from 20 litres of mixture..

means reaming {(24+6)-20}= 10 litre mixture must be sold at a price of

(2131.20-1200)/10 Rs/lit

=931.20/10 Rs/lit

=93.12 Rs/lit.
