EVALUATION

Let cost of x litres oil is Rs y

As x increases y will also increase

So x and y are in direct variation

$\sf{y \propto x}$

$\sf{ \implies \: y = kx}$

Where k is non zero real number

When x = 24 , y = 1200

From Equation (1) we get

$\sf{1200 = 24k}$

$\implies \sf{k = 50}$

Now when x = 18

$\sf{y = kx = 50 \times 18 = 900}$

The cost of 18 litres of oil = Rs 900
