Given:- The difference between two numbers is 538 and 26% of the bigger number is 22% less than the smaller number.

Consider,

Bigger number = x

Smaller number=y

According to the question,

x - y = 538

x = 538+y..............(i)

★ 26% of bigger number,

{\bold{x×\frac{26}{100}}}

{\bold{→\frac{26x}{100}}}

★ 22% less than the smaller number,

{\bold{y-y×\frac{26}{100}}}

{\bold{→\frac{78y}{100}}}

According to the question,

{\bold{\frac{26x}{100}}} ={\bold{\frac{78y}{100}}}

→ 26x = 78y

Putting x = 538+y

→26(538+y)=78y

→13988+26y = 52y

y = 269

Putting y = 269 in (i) no. equation

x = 538+y

→x = 538+269

x = 807

So the sum of two numbers =

(807+269)

=1076
