Given:

Volume of HCl = 25.0 ml

Mass of AgCl = 2.125

To find:

Normality of HCl

Solution:

  • We know that, Molecular weight of AgCl = 143
  • Now, moles of AgCl = 2.125 / 143 = 0.01486
  • Also, number of moles AgCl = number of moles of HCl = 0.01486
  • Now, molarity of HCl solution can be calculated as-

= Number of moles of HCl / Volume of solution in litres

        = 0.01486 / (25 / 1000)

        = 0.6 M

  • Now, the normality of HCl = Molarity x (number of hydrogen ions)

                                                    = 0.6 x 1

                                                    = 0.6

  • Thus, the normality of HCl is 0.6 N
