No. The claimant was not correct. If he was the son of the couple, his blood group would've been either A (with genotype AO) or B (with genotype BO) as the deceased have the blood type O and AB. 

The son's blood group wouldn't have been O(with genotype OO) as the alleles A and B are co dominant to each other and completely dominant over the allele O.
