⇒ Area of a rectangle =length×breadth
=xy
⇒ Area of a rectangle =xycm² ---- ( 1 )
Now, when length and breadth gets double.
The length and breadth becomes 2x and 2y
⇒ Area of a rectangle =2x×2y
=4xycm²
⇒ Area of a rectangle= 4xycm² --- ( 2 )
Comparing ( 1 ) and ( 2 ) we can see,
⇒ If the length and the breadth of a rectangle are doubled then its area becomes 4 times.
