Solution:

Length = x meter

Perimeter = 2 ( Length + Breadth )

Eighty meters of fencing  

=> Perimeter = 80 m

2 ( Length + Breadth )  = 80

=> Length + Breadth = 40

=> x + Breadth = 40

=> Breadth = 40 - x

Area = Length * Breadth

=> A = x ( 40 - x)

=> A  =    40x - x²

area that can be enclosed =    40x - x²  sq m
