Answer:

As we know that, impulse = Force * time

Given,

impulse = 1000000 Newton- sec

force = 45000 Newton

therefore, time = impulse ÷ force

  • time = 1000000 ÷ 45000

= 22.22 sec

As the option have 22 sec, B is the correct answer

\bigstar Given

A jet engine provides a thrust of 45,000 Newtons

\bigstar To Find

How long  must it fire to produce 1 million newton-seconds of impulse

\bigstar Solution

We know that

\red{\rm \longrightarrow t=\dfrac{I}{F}}

Here

  • t = time
  • I = impulse
  • F = force

According to the question

We are asked to find how long  must it fire to produce 1 million newton-seconds of impulse

Therefore

We must find "t"

Given that

A jet engine provides a thrust of 45,000 Newtons. How long  must it fire to produce 1 million newton-seconds of impulse

We know that

1 million =  10⁶

Hence

  • F = 45,000 N
  • I = 10⁶ N s

Substituting the values

We get

\blue{\rm \longrightarrow t=\dfrac{10^{6}}{45000} \ s}

\green{\rm \longrightarrow t=\dfrac{1000000}{45000} \ s}

On further simplification

We get

\orange{\rm \longrightarrow t=22.22 \ s}

On approximation

We get

\pink{\rm \longrightarrow t \approx 22 \ s}

Therefore

\star Time = 22 s

Hence

\checkmark Option (a) is correct
