  • number of girls student = 3/5 of 40

TO FIND :-

  • Number of boys .

SOLUTION :-

➵ No. of girls = 3/5 of total students

➵ 3/5 × 40

➵ 8 × 3

24 girls

⇰ No.of boys = Total students - No.of girls

⇰ 40 - 24

16 boys

Hence the No.of boys in a class are 16.

VERIFICATION :-

Total students = girls + boys

↣ 40 = 24 + 16

Step-by-step explanation:

{\red{\underline{\underline{\bold{Given:-}}}}}

  • Total number of students in a class = 40

  • ⅗ of the students are girls

{\blue{\underline{\underline{\bold{To\:Find:-}}}}}

  • Number of boys in the class

{\green{\underline{\underline{\bold{Solution:-}}}}}

Let the number of boys in the class be x

Total number of students

\bf \:  \dfrac{3}{5}  \: are \:  \: girls

\bf \: Number \:  \: of \:  \: girls \:  \:  =  \dfrac{3}{5} \times 40

 \bf = 3 \times 8

  \bf = 24

According to the question :-

Number of boys + Number of girls = 40

 \implies \bf x  \: +  \: 24  \: = \:  40

\implies \bf x   \: = \:  40  \: -  \: 24

\implies \bf x \: = 16

Therefore:-

\boxed{ \bf Number \:  \: of \:  \: boys \:  \:  =  \:  \: 16}
