We first find out the valie of x from the given equation.

=> x^2 -2 = 27

=> x^2 = 27 - 2

=> x^2 = 25

=> x = √25

=> x = ±5.

Since, square of both +5 and -5 is 25 so we consider both values.

Now,

$1)for \: x = 5 \\ \: x + \frac{1}{x} = > 5 + \frac{1}{5} = > \frac{26}{5} \\ \\ for \: x = - 5 \\ \\ x + \frac{1}{x} = > - 5 + \frac{ - 1}{5} = > \frac{ - 26}{5} \\ \\ 2) \: for \: x = 5 \\ \\ x - \frac{1}{5} = > \frac{24}{5} \\ \\ and \: for \: x = - 5 \\ \\ x - \frac{1}{x} = > \frac{ - 24}{5}$
