Answer: 50 Liters

Explanation: According to the neutralization law,

M_1V_1+M_2V_2=M_3V_3

where,

M_1 = Concentration of HCl solution = 70%

V_1 = volume of HCl solution = ?25 L

M_2 =  Concentration of another HCl solution = 40%

V_2 = volume of another HCl solution = x L

M_1 = Concentration of resulting HCl solution = 50%

V_1 = volume of resulting HCl solution = 25 L +x L

Now put all the given values in the above law, we get the volume of NaOH solution.

70\%\times 25L+40\%\times xL=50\%\times (25+x)L

x=50 L

Therefore, the amount of 40% hcl solution added is 50L.
