There is no reaction with water. However, alcohols burn in the air, releasing energy and producing carbon dioxide and water.

The alcohol will be evaporated much faster than the water.

  • There are two types of substances, according to the capabilities of evaporation, 1) Volatile and 2) Non volatile.
  • The volatile substances get easily evaporated even at the room temperature and vice versa for the non volatile substance.
  • Here, the alcohol is a volatile substance and water is a non volatile substance. So, due to the exposure to air, the alcohol will be evaporated in no time.
  • On the other hand, the water will take a long time span, to get completely evaporated.
