Perimeter of scalene triangle =

8cm + 15cm + 17cm

= 40cm.

area of scalene triangle

 \sqrt{s(s – a)(s – b)(s – c)}

= 60cm

area = 1/2 × base × height

area = 1/2 × hypotenuse × altitude

Considering eq. (II)

hypotenuse = 15cm

area = 1/2 × 15cm × altitude

= 7.5 × altitude

altitude = 60cm/7.5 cm

= 8 cm.
