(25) Two stations are 600 km apart. Two trains
start from the stations, at the same time on
parallel tracks to cross each other. The speed
of one train is 15 km/hr more than the other.
If after 3 hours the two trains are 22.5 km
apart, find the speed of the two trains.

speed of tain I = x kmph

speed of tain II = y kmph

x > y

x - y = 15 kmph......(1)

speed of tain I = x kmph

distance covered by train I in 3hrs = 3x km

distance covered by train II in 3 hrs = 3y km

3x + 3y + 22.5 = 600

i,e..x + y = 192.5........(2)

solving (1) & (2) we get..

x = 103.75 & y = 88.75

hence....

speed of tain I = 103.75 kmph

speed of tain II = 88.75 kmph
