Concept: Mathematically, AN equation are often outlined as a press release that supports the equality of 2 expressions, that as connected by the sign “=”. As an example, 2x – five = thirteen.

Given: 25/x+y -7/x-y=-2

15/x+y -7/x-y=-4

Find: Calculate the value of x and y

Solution:

25/x+y -7/x-y=-2

15/x+y -7/x-y=-4

Let 1/x+y=u    1/x-y=v

25u-7v= -2 ⇒(1)

15u-7v= -4 ⇒(2)

Subtract equation 2 from equation 1

25u-15u-7v+7v= -2+4

10u=2

u=1/5

Put value of u in equation 1

25(1/5)-7v= -2

5-7v= -2

7v=7

v=1

1/x+y=1/5

x+y=5 ⇒(3)

1/x-y=1

x-y=1 ⇒(4)

Addition of equation 1 and 2

x+x+y-y=5+1

2x=6

x=3

Put value of x in equation 3

3+y=5

y=5-3

y=2

Final answer: x=3 and y=2
